Network. Connect. Develop.

Established in 2013, MYP is an inclusive and accessible community for progressive, like-minded professionals in their 20s and 30s.

The Manchester Young Professionals Story

Our story started in the Ribble Valley, where two mates, Andrew and Rich, had an idea to create a network that was a bit of a departure from the norm. After moving to Manchester we noticed a lack of opportunity to connect with peers in different industries, and knew Manchester needed something different. Having both grown up nearby, and seen the growth of the City of Manchester increasing exponentially, we knew that it was time that a community like MYP existed, so in 2013, we launched our first Manchester city centre event to great fanfare and aplomb (there were about 20 people there and we knew almost all of them, but hey, everyone has to start somewhere)! However, we quickly grew, and now we’re hosting events that give our members opportunities to network, connect and develop in the community, and are consistently sold out all over the city!

“It’s crucially important to us to be able to give back via our charity partnerships – volunteering or raising funds every year – such as our scheme to give £1 per ticket purchased for any event, directly towards helping truly worthwhile causes.”

We’re passionate about not just creating a professional network, but also creating a community! We’ve been supporting local charities like Mind Manchester, Beachwood and Forever Manchester since 2016, and we’re always looking for ways to give back to the city that’s done so much for us. MYP really does come from a love for the City of Manchester and the network of fun, genuine and likeminded people that has grown so rapidly here over the past few years. Despite being a city of well over half a million people, with thousands more commuting in every day to work, Manchester has never really lost the spark and close-knit, family feeling that makes it a genuinely special place to be. We’re so excited to see what the future has in store for Manchester as a whole, as well as our own community of young skilled professionals calling it home.

A Bit About Us…

Andrew Bennie

In 2010, fresh-faced and straight out of uni, Andrew joined Brooks Macdonald, an investment management firm based in the city centre, on their Trainee Investment Manager programme and has been with the company ever since. He made the move to Manchester official in 2011 and hasn’t looked back!

“It’s been fantastic to see Manchester go from strength to strength since moving here in 2011 – the changing skyline tells you everything you need to know and it’s only going to get bigger and better. I love how connected the city is. We’ve met so many interesting people through the community and can’t wait to see what the next few years bring.”

Even fresher-faced and still in uni, Rich first worked in Manchester at 19 on a marketing student placement whilst studying at Leeds Metropolitan University, and fell in love with the city. After graduating he moved to Manchester with Kellogg’s, working in the Sales & Marketing team.

“I love the buzz of our booming city, it’s the perfect platform to help connect our great people. Contributing to the development of our community, whether that be personally or professionally, socially or from a health and well-being perspective, is something that I’m really passionate about!”
