When people think about doing an MBA, the focus is often on what happens during the programme: the coursework, the case studies, the consulting projects, the networking. But just as important is what happens after. Because for many, an MBA isn’t the end goal – it’s the launchpad.

At Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS), that launchpad is especially powerful. The MBA class is a diverse, international cohort of professionals from all over the world, each with their own ambitions and aspirations. Whether it’s pivoting into a new industry, accelerating into senior leadership, or finally building that long-imagined startup, the opportunities that follow are as varied as the students themselves.

We recently caught up with Alice, who is currently partway through her MBA journey at AMBS. Alice made the move after several years working in the luxury retail sector, with roles spanning brand management and business operations. For her, the MBA offered a chance to step outside of her comfort zone, broaden her strategic toolkit, and prepare for a shift into a more globally focused leadership role.

“The diversity of the AMBS cohort is one of the things I value most,” says Alice. “It’s not just about learning business theory – it’s about understanding how different people, cultures and industries work together. You learn just as much from your peers as you do from your professors.”

Our recent MYP Reel showcased Alice thriving in group projects—where her team tackled everything from market research to pitching strategies. These immersive, collaborative experiences are exactly what equip students for career progression.
