At MYP, we’re proud to work with local charities and organisations to help improve the city of Manchester. For the last two years, we have been working with the fantastic people at Manchester Mind.

In that time we helped raise more than £4,000 and are now delighted to say that we have a brand-new charity partner – The Prince’s Trust!

We’re so excited to be working with this British institution of a charity and are looking forward to helping young people across Greater Manchester. Much like our previous partnership, we’ll still be donating £1 of every ticket sold to The Prince’s Trust.

Working alongside The Prince’s Trust made total sense to us here at MYP. We are both passionate about improving the lives of young people in the area and offering new opportunities to them. To learn more about MYP and our charity work, be sure to check out our previous events. As well as that, sign up for our newsletter to be among the first to hear about new and exciting events that we’ll be hosting as we ease out of lockdown.

Looking Back On Our Work With Manchester Mind

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Manchester Mind for allowing us to work with them over the past two years. What they do as a charity, and how they help people going through a difficult time, is remarkable. To celebrate our time working together, we’ve highlighted some of the key fundraising events and stats:

  • In 2019, we raised £2,586 and a further £1,415 in 2020, amounting to a total of £4,000 over the last two years. We raised this amazing amount just by donating £1 from every ticket sold for one of our events.
  • In 2019, we hosted a mindfulness event at Pot Kettle Black in Manchester. This session, which was wonderfully received by all attendees, was run by Joanna Huddart. We also supported their annual Christmas gift wrapping session at Hulme Centre later in the year.
  • When the pandemic hit, we hosted virtual events in July of last year. We had another mindfulness event with the MYP community to help people through the stress and anxiety of covid-19. Again, this was greatly appreciated by people who were, rightly, finding this uncertain period tough.

We spoke to Joanna Huddart from Manchester Mind, who said this about our relationship: “I just wanted to say how proud we are to have MYP’s continued support, as we were totally unaware of your fundraising activities during the pandemic.

“You [MYP] have not only raised a staggering amount in aid of our local mental health services but also generated more awareness of our vital support services which are so needed through these difficult times.”

MYP have helped Manchester Mind raise lots of money over the last two years

About The Prince’s Trust, And Our New Partnership

Founded in 1976 by HRH the Prince of Wales, The Prince’s Trust has, in just 45 years, helped more than 1 million people aged between 11-30. To this day they continue to provide new opportunities, be it jobs, education, or further training. Prince Charles set up the charity in the mid-70s after completing his duties in the Royal Navy. His goal was to set up a charity that helped people across the country from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The stats around the charity are remarkable. Around three in every four people who are supported by the trust go on to climb the career ladder, improve their educational standing, or learn a new skill that can help them in later life.

Over the coming months, we’ll be announcing more information about how we intend to work alongside The Prince’s Trust. Through mentoring, fundraising, and raising awareness of initiatives, we’re excited to see where it leads us.

And, as we mentioned, we’ll be donating £1 from every ticket sold to the charity.
