Check out a day in the life

When people think about working in law, they often picture long hours, endless paperwork and courtroom dramas. The reality? Every day is different.

We spent the day with Grace, a Solicitor in the Commercial Litigation team at Myerson Solicitors, to get a behind-the-scenes look at what life is really like working at one of Greater Manchester’s leading independent law firms.

From the morning commute to client calls and everything in between, here’s what a typical day looks like.

Starting the Day

The day begins bright and early. By 8am, Grace is already on her way into the office, making the most of Myerson’s Altrincham location, just a short walk from the train station. “It’s fantastic for a commuter,” Grace says.

For professionals travelling into work each day, having excellent transport links makes a real difference, allowing for an easy commute while still being close to everything Greater Manchester has to offer.

A Busy Day in Commercial Litigation

No two days in Commercial Litigation are ever the same, and that’s exactly what Grace enjoys most.

After arriving at the office and grabbing a coffee, it’s straight into the day’s workload. From reviewing documents and speaking with clients to collaborating with colleagues and progressing live cases, there’s always something happening.

Working in Commercial Litigation means helping businesses resolve disputes, protect their interests and navigate complex legal challenges. It requires strong communication, problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically, making it an exciting and rewarding area of law for those who enjoy variety.

Throughout the day, Grace can often be found on client calls, discussing ongoing matters and working closely with the wider team to deliver the best possible outcomes.

More Than Just the Office

One of the benefits of being based in Altrincham is everything that’s right on your doorstep. During a break in the day, Grace takes a quick trip into the town centre, making the most of the local cafés, shops and independent businesses, showing the “Perks of working in Altrincham.”

Whether it’s grabbing lunch, enjoying a coffee or, in Grace’s case, accidentally finding yourself in Oliver Bonas, the location offers plenty of opportunities to step away from the desk and recharge before getting back to work.

A Collaborative Culture

While legal work is often associated with individual expertise, collaboration is a huge part of life at Myerson.

Across every department, teams work closely together, sharing knowledge and supporting one another to achieve the best outcomes for clients. That collaborative culture is one of the reasons Myerson has built such a strong reputation, combining technical legal expertise with a genuinely people-first approach.

Thinking About a Career in Law?

If you’re considering a career in law, seeing the day-to-day reality can be incredibly valuable.

As Grace’s day shows, working in Commercial Litigation is about far more than paperwork. It’s about building relationships, solving problems, supporting clients through important decisions and working as part of a team that genuinely enjoys what they do.

Whether you’re a student, graduate or someone exploring your next career move, Myerson offers the opportunity to develop your skills within a supportive, ambitious and collaborative environment.
